For thousands of years, acupuncture has been used to treat diseases, facilitate healing and restore healthful vigor. Originating in the far East, acupuncture is part of a Taoist system of medicine that approaches each individual as an interconnected sum of physical, emotional and spiritual qualities, constantly flowing, changing and affecting each other.
During an acupuncture treatment, ultra-thin, sterile needles are inserted into specific points along the meridians of the body. Other techniques may be used in combination with needles such as cupping, moxibustion, herbs, or hands on therapies. The overall effect is one of deep relaxation, a settling of the nervous system and assistance with the body’s ability to be resilient and restored.
