Shiatsu is beneficial for many types of musculoskeletal complaints as well as internal diseases and discomforts. Shiatsu has been beneficial for such complaints as: joint pain and chronic muscle tension, frozen shoulder, low back pain, insomnia, menopause, painful periods, depression, anxiety, chronic bloating and simply for relaxation.
Shiatsu is a safe and beneficial therapy for women who are pregnant and are experiencing sciatica, low back pain, heartburn or nausea, or general discomfort. Shiatsu can be a calming and supportive way to feel more comfortable with the changes going on inside of a pregnant woman’s body as well as a great opportunity to connect with the baby in utero. Consistent shiatsu sessions in the last month before giving birth can help prepare the mother and baby emotionally and physically for the event.
Shiatsu is also a great alternative for people interested in the benefits of acupuncture but are needle shy.
Shiatsu at Mississippi Health Center is performed by Jennifer on a massage table or on a futon on the floor with the receiver fully clothed in stretchy, comfortable clothing, including clean socks. No oils or lotions are used.
